English as a Second Language Information Otterbein’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program provides the perfect setting to improve your English for academic or professional goals. Each of our course levels combines speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar. We develop academic skills in research and note taking as we focus on a variety of relevant and interesting topics. Students are typically in classes for 4-5 hours each day, but may also participate in weekly conversation partner practice with an American Otterbein student and tour the Columbus area on one of our field trips. ESL Application RequirementsTo apply, student must have graduated from high school or received an equivalent diploma from a secondary school. If a student is under 18 and a high school graduate, the student may enroll in the program under the supervision of a parent or guardian. How to ApplyPlease submit the following materials using the on-line application system. Click below to apply. An official bank statement and sponsor’s guarantee. A high school diploma and/or official college or university transcripts. Copies of visa information if currently in the US. The ESL program accepts students from the high-beginner to advanced levels. At a minimum, students must have a 353 TOEFL PBT (21 iBT, 2.0 IELTS) to enroll. Students are required to take the ESL placement test at the start of the program to determine placement level. ESL Session DatesOtterbein University’s ESL academic calendar currently consists of seven week sessions (5-week sessions during summer). *Beginning Spring 2016 sessions will follow the semester calendar (15 weeks).* Prices will change with semester conversion.*
New students must arrive before their Testing & Orientation days. Students who arrive after the testing and orientation days may not start until the following session. |
