Your days at college should be some of the best and most memorable days of your life. At Hartpury we understand the importance of the ‘student experience’ and work hard to ensure you have every opportunity to develop yourself academically, whilst having a great time and making lifelong friendships. Students' Union - As a Hartpury Further Education student you will have automatic membership of the Hartpury Students’ Union (SU). This means you can get involved in the wide range of activities and events that take place on campus. The Hartpury Freshers' Week will be your initial opportunity to discover the range of great clubs and societies on offer and, if you have an interest we don’t cater for, you are welcome to start up something new. Some of our most popular clubs include Young Farmers, Outdoor Pursuits, Skiing and Snowboarding and the Equestrian Club. It is important to us that you join in as it is a great way to make new friends and fill your free time and, most importantly, have fun! Chill-out on campus - You can eat, drink and chill-out between lectures and in the evening at a number of venues on campus including Penfolds Café, The Equine Arena Restaurant, The Farm Diner and the main Student Restaurant. There is also 'Oaks'; a social venue dedicated to Further Education students that offers a variety of events throughout the week in an alcohol-free environment. A range of recreational activities are also on offer to all students at lunchtimes and during the evenings, ranging from pool to cheerleading. The Noticeboards and Student Intranet will keep you regularly updated with what is going on. Sport and Exercise - We recognise that many students at Hartpury consider health and fitness a major part of their lifestyle. A comprehensive range of sporting activities and classes run throughout the week, ranging from Badminton, Netball, Basketball, Squash, Aerobics and Yoga. There are opportunities to take part in cross-college competitions as well as fixtures with other Colleges. The Sports Academy Centre on campus provides an excellent training and fitness facility for all Hartpury students to use. Our Personal Trainers will help familiarise you with the equipment and put together training programmes to help you achieve your fitness goals. Other sports facilities available on campus or through partnerships with local sports clubs include: •GL1 Leisure Centre & Swimming Complex •South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre •Cross Country Course and Gallops •8 Indoor and Outdoor Equine Arenas •Golf Driving Range •Newent Hockey Club More information about the program can be obtained from the Center for International Education & Global Engagement behind 172 W.
