Otterbein University
welcomes outside universities and study abroad providers to its campus to
recruit study abroad students to their programs.
The University
recognizes it cannot provide the variety of programs needed for all students’
academic, linguistic and cultural needs. Outside providers offer valuable
learning alternatives to Otterbein’s existing programs. When providers visit
Otterbein they are helping the University promote internationalization
and extend the reach of The Center for International Education and Global
Engagement.
While Otterbein welcomes
visits by all providers who offer safe and academically sound programs, not
all providers will be considered Otterbein “Affiliated” programs. In order to
be considered an affiliated program, an outside provider at a minimum must:
• Offer safe, strong academic, and
affordable programs
• Attend the annual education
fair
• Advertise in the student newspaper
• Visit campus one additional time
after the fair to recruit
• And provide an immediate
discount/scholarship to all Otterbein students
These points must be
stipulated in the provider/Otterbein University affiliation agreement.
Otterbein
University vets the academic quality of all programs through its
academic departments and faculty who have expertise in given subject matter.
An annual $100 fee is charged to providers to cover the cost of the study
abroad fair, table reservations allows for open (but coordinated) access for
one academic year. Cost for advertising in the student newspaper, The Tan and Cardinal, can be
found through the “Advertising” link on the CIEGE website. Providers who meet the minimum
requirements will be listed on the Otterbein website as “Affiliated Programs”
All discounts created
through affiliation agreements will immediately be credited to the student’s account with the
provider. Otterbein does not accept payments from providers for student
discounts.
Students will make all
payments directly to the provider and Otterbein will only collect fees on
behalf of providers if the student will receive a larger discount by
Otterbein collecting the fees.
