What
Happens Next?
Now
that you want to study abroad these are the steps you need to take:
IMMEDIATELY
Apply for a passport or ensure your passport
is valid for 180 days beyond the ending date of your program
- Passport applications can be
picked up at your local county clerk’s office and most post offices.
Applications are also available to download from the State
Department’s Website.
- You should return the
application to the nearest county clerk’s office or post office that
accepts passport applications. The nearest passport agency locations are
also available at the State Department website.
Application
- Submit all application
materials to CIEGE for processing. Do not submit your application
directly to the program. Allow CIEGE to review your application before
submitting it to the program.

that has jurisdiction over where you will live. CIEGE can advise you on
this process.

responsible for making your own travel arrangements to and from your
study abroad site. Unless you have personal travel plans before or after
your program begins or ends, you should plan to arrive on the date your

best fares.
