Be Engaged at Otterbein

Education is not really about where you go. It is about what you do when you get there.

You can choose to attend a large institution where you are one of the hundreds or thousands of international students. You can choose an institution where you can have the security of being with a large number of students from your own country; almost like you never left home.…

At Otterbein, we know your name. We smile, nod our head in greeting, and say hello when you pass us on campus. We are a safe, close-knit community that cares about your academic success and integration.  We expect you to share your culture and ideas with us so we can learn about you while you are learning about us.

You can choose other small colleges or universities with friendly environments.  Where are these schools located? Does the location offer educational activities that can be easily integrated into your academic coursework? What will entertain and educate you after class?

Otterbein is located minutes from the city of Columbus, the capital of Ohio, and the shopping, arts, restaurants, sport events and other activities you can find in a big city. You will be living in a small, safe town with convenient access to a vibrant city.

Education is about the experiences you will have. You will be expected to participate in the Otterbein community. We want you to engage in service, research, and volunteerism. We encourage you to lead and share cross-cultural differences in leadership style. We will assist you in arranging internship and work opportunities so you can apply the theoretical principles you learn in class to real world settings.

At Otterbein, you will be a participant in your education and learning. You will be expected to make connections and to interact in the larger communities.

This is the Otterbein Way.

Come here.

Be engaged.
