You are virtually there. Funding Administered by OtterbeinThe following funding opportunities are open to Otterbein students. Otterbein awards $2000 in Otterbein aid to eligible students toward the cost of participation in a non-exchange study abroad program. “Envoys” must be willing to engage in one or more of the Five Cardinal Experiences in a global context. Students are expected to intern, provide service, conduct research or provide leadership in a global context either locally or globally. CIEGE, the Center for Community Engagement and the Center for Career Planning work collaboratively in assisting students in finding appropriate placements. Note: Because students who are participating in exchange programs already receive their full Otterbein aid package, these programs are not eligible for additional Otterbein aid. Boren Awards include David L. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students and David L. Boren Fellowships for graduate students. They provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to add an important international and language component to their educations. Boren Awards focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad. Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship Program provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The Childers Family Award for International Study The Childers Family has generously established an award of approximately $1,000 to be granted to Otterbein University students planning to study abroad that will help defray the cost of this experience. The Tatsuo Tsuda Japan Education Endowment Otterbein University alumnus Tatsuo Tsuda has generously established an award of approximately $1,000 to be granted to Otterbein University students planning to study in Japan that will help defray the cost of this experience. The criteria for this award are as follows: The applicant must be a full-time student at Otterbein University.

Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation Scholarship Students who plan to study outside of the United States for one full semester qualify to apply for this scholarship, provided that they have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and have completed one year of college-level coursework or 30 hours of earned credit at the college or university. Applicants must submit an essay of 500-800 words explaining about an experience which has changed their life as well as an official transcript sent by the student's registrar. Those who qualify will be awarded $2,500. More information can be found here.
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange For Young Professionals (Germany)The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals is a full-year work-study scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange. CBYX annually provides 75 young Americans with an understanding of everyday life, education, and professional training in Germany. The program begins in July and includes two months of intensive German language training in Germany (no prior German language knowledge required), four months of classroom instruction at a German university or college of applied sciences, and a five-month internship in a participant’s career field. Critical Language Scholarship Program
A program of United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program will offer intensive summer language institutes overseas in thirteen critical need foreign languages for summer 2011.The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers.
